To maintain its quality, use covers or sheets to protect the futon from damage, and wash them regularly. The futon should also be aired out in the sun to keep it resilient, warm, and fluffy.

To store the futon, keep it in a dry place with the mattress on the bottom and the comforter on top. If stored for an extended period, make sure to dry it first before storing it in a dry place with the covers removed. Cleaning should be done by spot cleaning and drying thoroughly, as the futon cannot be washed in a washing machine.
